gun control

Interesting Facts About Gun Control NEVER MADE KNOWN BY THE CONTROL LOBBY

There are 30,000 gun related deaths per year by firearms, and this number is not disputed. U.S. population 324,059,091 as of Wednesday, June 22, 2016.

Do the math: 0.000000925% of the population die from gun related actions each year. Statistically speaking, this is insignificant!

What is never told, however, is a breakdown of those 30,000 deaths, to put them in perspective as compared to other causes of death:

• 65% of those deaths are by suicide which would never be prevented by gun laws • 15% are […]

freeze drying economics

Freeze drying is superior food preservation technology that recently became available for home use. Units about the size of a woodstove enable home food preservers to put by meat, vegetables, fruit and completed meals for extremely long storage shelf lives without losing significant nutrient value.

Friends of ours bought a freeze dryer and, with numerous batches under their belts, showed off the machine and their results.

I am quite impressed with the claims of quality and potential longevity of the food supply. I am also a bit surprised at what has to be learned and the amount of […]

personal priorities

An online friend posed a couple of questions that got me thinking. Their intent was to inspire finding and focusing personal passion in a income-generating, or work-related setting.

I am in the fortunate position of being able to take one step further back from that view.

While I am not sharing my personal excursion through this exercise, I am publishing the process.

You can apply it to me from your view if you wish, but I am offering it to you for your own purposes that you may be inspired to do the exercise for yourself […]

winning trombone bid

I “won” an eBay auction on a horn I just had to hold. It is probably around a 1950 build from Elkhart, Indiana – a time and place some famously good playing horns came from.

For $68 + $38 shipping, I HAD TO take the chance I would score another nice playing horn … I’ve been pretty lucky at buying and restoring lately.

It is an American Triumph made by Harry Pedler … the production line and artisans that became Conn, that produced my Conn 6H, among other vintage desirables.

My initial straightening of quite badly bent inner slides […]

chronic bronchial congestion cured

I cannot think of any morning in recent memory where I did not wake up with lung and bronchial congestion. I find that taking two Lung, Bronchial & Sinus Health tablets a day keeps my congestion under control. I forget or run out of those supplements once in a while and notice degradation.

It is chronic in me. I accept that … mostly.

I get up and am upright for an hour or two and it clears out until the next morning. Of late, it occasionally makes me get up around 3:00 AM for a couple hours […]
