new theme

WordPress calls them “themes”, but in classes I teach on website-building I often refer to them as “skins”. The templets that control how a blog website looks and functions are built by programmers who greatly simplify publishing, but severely limit what you can do with them … that is, without building your own skins.

I haven’t wanted to learn that language. I am getting by just fine publishing, building websites for myself and building for others without adding that level of complexity to my life.

BUT I really haven’t been perfectly content with the themes I have found. I […]

dishwasher detergent recipe

Easy Peasy DIY Dish Detergent

This awesome and powerful dishwasher detergent is super easy to make! Literally pennies per use, it only took a few minutes to mix it up. In Phoenix, where the water is hard, this detergent does a great job on glasses too. I already had everything I need except the Lemi Shine, which I found at the grocery store; on the top shelf above the dish washing products.

Ingredients

2 cups Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda

2 cups Borax Detergent Booster

porta potty

You can certainly spend more, but this is clever, inexpensive and made of rather readably available materials… handling a rather obvious necessity.

The Day Before

Studying history with knowledge of the elite banking families in mind; with an understanding of the role The Bilderberg Group plays in it, and watching events unfold from sources outside their mainstream media leads prudent people to preparation for dramatic change in our world.

That is commonly known as TEOTWAWKI – the end of the world as we know it.

The psychopaths in charge include a disproportionate number of satanists (web-search “Bohemian Grove”) and numerologists. Their symbols and number games recur in major historical events not because of their cosmic correctness, but because the people causing those events to […]

introducing Backdoor Survival blog

Welcome to this week’s all new Sunday Survival Buzz with an update on my own preps and announcements from the Backdoor Survival blog.

There was not a lot of prepping going on at my place this week. Most of what I accomplished had to do with research for blog articles, including cutting up an old pair of Shelly’s jeans to make some char cloth. I also purchased a 5 gallon tub of coconut oil.

I am certain you are thinking that I must have lost it because 5 gallons is a lot of coconut oil. No worries, though. […]

Natural antibiotics

10 herbs and foods that kill superbugs Monday, June 16, 2014 by: J. D. Heyes (NaturalNews) Longtime readers of Natural News know that, because of massive over-prescribing by the modern healthcare industry, today’s crop of antibiotics are becoming less and less effective. Another culprit: The increased use of antibiotics in factory-farm animals.

“It is not difficult to make microbes resistant to penicillin in the laboratory by exposing them to concentrations not sufficient to kill them,” warned Alexander Fleming, the creator of the first antibiotic, penicillin, back in 1945 when he received his Nobel Prize for medicine. “There is […]

oregano essential oil

25 Ways to Use Oregano Essential Oil for Health and Wellness

Five years ago, if someone were to mention the use of oregano essential for health and wellness purposes I would have looked at them cross-eyed. Although well versed in the benefits of essential oils, for one reason or another, oregano essential oil was nowhere to be found on my radar screen. Oregano for wellness? Although I grow it in my yard and use it in pasta dishes and on pizza, I had never considered it to have healing qualities.

Moving forward in time, as I began to toss […]

home-built wind turbine

On my list somewhere other than the immediate future is building my own wind-powered generator. It is on the same page of my ToDo List with a stationary-bicycle powered generator. Meanwhile, the guys over at Instructables have published one that serves as a reminder these things don’t have to be expensive or difficult to pull off.

Want to generate your own power? Want to do it easily? Tired of “how to” wind turbine searches that end up not showing you how to actually build one? We are!!!

Here is a simple wind turbine that generates over 12 volts. Most […]
